I’m sure NBC is pissed. Tiger Woods’ comeback was cut short today by a red-hot Tim Clark, who played 6 under through the 16 holes of the match to defeat Woods 4 and 2. There went this weekend’s ratings.
This begs the question—did Woods pick the right event to come back? It’s hard to criticize the man. Though he’s one of the world’s greatest competitors, I still don’t think he would come back too early. He was ready. Tiger just had a bad day. Tim Clark was hot. It happens.
I doubt we see Woods again until Doral in a couple of weeks. But, though he played fairly well yesterday, he didn’t get his money’s worth after today’s early exit. For Tiger fans like myself, let’s just hope he brings his A game to The Masters next month. I’m sure CBS is hoping for the same thing.
In other action, Lefty held off a late charge by Zach Johnson to win 1 up. Anthony Kim lost to Oliver Wilson, 3 and 2. And Stewart Cink defeated Lee Westwood in a 23 hole marathon.

With Tiger and Sergio out, who’s the favorite? I like Villegas right now. He has put an absolute beatdown on Rod Pampling and Miguel Angel Jiminez. Even with Woods out, we should have some entertaining golf this weekend.
